Terms and conditions for Parents and Students

Welcome to Connectee Education (“Connectee”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), a digital marketplace that connects families (“Parents/Guardians” and “Students”) with independent professional educators for personalized learning. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to users of Connectee’s platform – primarily Parents/Guardians or adult Students – who use our Platform to find and book tutoring services. By registering an account or using the Connectee Platform as a Parent or Student, you agree to be bound by these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy and other posted policies. If you do not agree, you should not use our services.

Connectee provides the Platform and tools to facilitate tutoring arrangements; however, Connectee is not a party to the actual contract between you and the Educator. Educators on Connectee are independent professionals, not employees of Connectee, and Connectee’s role is to vet (to some extent), connect, and support transactions, but not to directly supervise tutoring sessions. We strive to ensure a safe and effective environment, and we rely on all users to adhere to these Terms.

Please read this document carefully, and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

  1. Introduction

    1. Connectee Education operates solely as an intermediary marketplace that facilitates contacts and agreements between Parents and Educators. Connectee is not a party to the tutoring agreements made between Users, and we do not employ or supervise Educators. All tutoring services are provided by Educators as independent contractors engaged directly by the Parents – no employment, partnership, or joint venture is created between Connectee and any User through use of the Platform.
    2. Connectee does not control the manner or content of the educational services provided by Educators; our function is to provide the online infrastructure, vetting and support to enable families to find suitable Educators and enter into arrangements for tutoring. We support communication, scheduling and payment processing through the platform, and we monitor feedback to uphold quality, but the actual tutoring is carried out by the Educator under your engagement.
    3. These Terms apply equally to all tutoring services arranged through Connectee. The same rights, obligations and policies outlined here shall apply regardless of the format of the session. Connectee reserves the right to modify these Terms as needed (with notice as described below).
    4. It is the responsibility of the Parent to read and understand these Terms before using the Platform. If you have any questions about any provision, please contact us for clarification. By using the Platform, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
  2. Definitions

For purposes of these Terms, the following capitalized terms have the meanings defined here:

    1. Platform: The digital platform and related services provided by Connectee that enable Parents and Students to find, communicate with, schedule, and manage Educators for tutoring sessions. This includes our website, app, and related online tools for messaging, booking and payments.
    2. Parent/Client (“you”):An individual (18 or older) who uses Connectee to find and hire Educators for educational services for a Student. This is typically a parent or legal guardian arranging tutoring for a minor child, but it also includes an adult Student who arranges tutoring for themselves. If you are a Parent/Guardian using the Platform for a minor student, you represent that student and are responsible for their use of the Platform. For simplicity, these Terms will refer mainly to “Parent”, but any obligations of the Parent apply equally to the Guardian or adult Student client, and any references to the Student encompass the child or the adult learner receiving services, as context requires.
    3. Student: The learner receiving tutoring. If under 18, the Student must be represented by a Parent or Guardian on the Platform.
    4. Educator: An independent professional who offers tutoring/teaching services through Connectee. Educators are not employees of Connectee; they are separate service providers engaged by Parents for specific sessions. The term “Educator” encompasses both Qualified Teachers and Vetted Tutors available via the Platform (and defined below).
    5. Qualified Teacher:Fully certified teachers who tutor in their subject of expertise. They bring in-depth curriculum knowledge and teaching experience.
    6. Vetted Tutor: Skilled tutors or subject matter experts who may not be formally certified teachers but have demonstrated strong teaching ability and subject mastery. Suitable for additional practice, enrichment, or targeted support.
    7. Session or Lesson: An instance of educational service provided by an Educator, which could be a single class period, a half-day or full-day of teaching, or a tutoring lesson. A Booking may consist of a single session or multiple sessions (e.g., a week of daily classes, or a series of tutoring lessons).
    8. Booking:The arrangement formed when a Parent and Educator agree on a Session’s details (time, date, subject, price, etc.) through the Platform. Once a booking is confirmed, it becomes a binding commitment for the Educator to provide the agreed service at the agreed time and price.
    9. Session Package:A prepaid bundle of multiple sessions that a Parent can purchase through the Connectee platform. Connectee may offer package options (Starter; Grow; Thrive) that include a set number of sessions at a packaged rate. Purchasing a lesson package allows you to schedule and use the allotted number of sessions over time. Package pricing is tiered based on the number of sessions and the Educator’s category: the per-lesson rate may differ if you choose a Qualified Teacher versus a Vetted Tutor for the sessions. Specific package offerings and their terms (such as how many lessons are included and the expiration period for using them) will be clearly presented on the platform at the time of purchase. Lesson packages are paid in advance.
    10. We/Us/Connectee:The Connectee Education service/provider operating the Platform and acting as the intermediary under these Terms.

Any other capitalized terms used in these Terms are defined in context or carry the ordinary meaning consistent with this document.

(Any other capitalized terms in this document have the meanings defined within.)

  3. ACCOUNT REGISTRATION AND ELIGIBILITY

To use Connectee as a Parent or Student client, you must create a user account on our platform and meet the eligibility requirements below. The individual registering the account must be an adult (18 years or older) with the legal capacity to enter into contracts. By registering, you confirm that you meet these requirements. If you are registering on behalf of a minor Student, you further confirm that you are the legal guardian or have the authority to arrange tutoring for that child. .

    1. Adult Supervision for Minors: Through the Connectee Platform, Schools can request Educators by specifying their needs (for example, subject, grade level, dates of cover needed, location, and whether a Qualified Teacher or Tutor is preferred). You may browse educator profiles or post a job request that matches your requirements. Connectee may also provide assistance or recommendations, especially for urgent cover needs. Initial communications with prospective Educators should occur via the Platform’s messaging system. Provide as many details as possible about the assignment in your request so that interested Educators can accurately assess the opportunity. (Note: Personal contact details should not be exchanged until a booking is confirmed, as per the non-circumvention rules above.) Educators are encouraged to respond promptly to School inquiries – typically, you can expect a reply or acceptance within a short timeframe, especially for urgent requests.
    2. Adult Student: If you are an adult Student (18 or older) creating an account for yourself, you can register as a “Parent” user as well. Any user who books a tutor is considered a client in our system. You confirm you are 18+ and capable of entering this agreement on your own behalf.
    3. When creating and maintaining your account, you agree to:
      1. Provide truthful and complete information:All details you enter during registration or in your profile must be truthful and up to date. This includes the student’s name/age (or your own, if the student is you), diplomas and schools or reference, any relevant contact information, and payment details. Misrepresenting your identity or needs is not allowed. Providing false information can lead to suspension of your account.
      2. Keep information updated:If your contact information changes (email, phone number, address) or the student’s circumstances change, please update your Connectee account or inform us. This ensures Educators have correct information to provide the best service.
      3. Secure your account:Choose a strong password and keep it confidential. You are responsible for all activities on your account, so do not share your account with others. If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us immediately. We recommend that the parent maintain control of the account credentials and only allow the minor to use the site under supervision. Any activity that occurs under your account is your responsibility, so please supervise and safeguard your account accordingly.
      4. One account rule:You should create only one Parent account for your household. A single account can manage multiple Students, if needed. Creating multiple accounts is only permitted with explicit permission from Us. Do not create accounts under false identities or create multiple accounts to bypass restrictions.
      5. Verification and eligibility checks:Connectee may require you to complete certain verification steps to confirm your identity, email, phone number, and/or payment method. This is to ensure the safety and integrity of the community (for example, we might send a verification code to your phone or do a temporary test charge to your card). You agree to comply with any such verification process and understand that your account may not be fully activated or could be suspended if you do not complete required verifications. We reserve the right to refuse registration or revoke access to any user that fails our verification or eligibility criteria, or who is found to violate these Terms or other policies.

Connectee reserves the right to refuse registration or deactivate any account that violates our policies or for other valid reasons. By registering, you agree to use the platform only for lawful, appropriate purposes and to abide by these Terms throughout your use of the service.

  4. PLATFORM USAGE AND USER CONTENT

By using our Platform, you agree to conduct yourself in a professional, respectful and lawful manner. We strive to maintain a respectful, safe and reliable community for all users. All users (Educators and Parents alike) must follow these general rules:

    1. Professionalism and Respect: Treat each other with courtesy and respect at all times. Harassment, discrimination, or abusive language is not tolerated. Create a safe environment for learning. If meeting in person, ensure the location is safe and appropriate. If interacting online, never engage in cyberbullying or inappropriate behaviour.
    2. No Misrepresentation of Needs and Expectations: When requesting an educator, describe your needs honestly – subject matter, level, goals, any challenges the student faces. This helps Educators determine if they’re a good fit. Don’t intentionally mislead an Educator about the student’s level or what is needed just to get someone to accept (for example, saying “just general help” if you really need intensive last-minute exam prep).
    3. Appropriate Content: Any content you post or share (profile descriptions, messages, lesson materials, etc.) should be appropriate and lawful. Do not upload content that is illegal, obscene, violent, or infringes on others’ rights (e.g. copyrighted material you don’t have the right to use).
    4. Use Platform for Intended Purpose: The Platform is to be used only for arranging and managing tutoring services. Do not use it for unrelated commercial purposes or any fraudulent activity. Inquiries or conduct related to academic dishonesty are strictly forbidden.
    5. No Circumvention: Our platform sustains itself through the fees and structure we have; if you find an Educator through Connectee, you are expected to book and pay them through Connectee. It’s against these Terms to arrange with an Educator to pay in cash or use a different payment method outside our system for sessions found via Connectee. (This protects you too – off-platform payments forgo our secure payment processing and refund support.) Similarly, do not share personal contact information with Educators before a booking is confirmed on the Platform – initial communication should stay on-platform for safety and record-keeping. After booking, you can share necessary contact details for coordination, but again, keep actual payments on Connectee.
    6. Safety First: For in-person sessions, both Tutors and Parents should take reasonable precautions. Connectee may provide safety features (like ID verification, session check-ins), but ultimately you are responsible for exercising good judgment to maintain safety. If you ever feel unsafe or encounter illegal behaviour, report it to us and, if appropriate, to the authorities.
    7. Legal Compliance: You agree not to use Connectee to engage in any unlawful activities. This includes complying with all applicable laws. Do not ask an Educator to do something that violates school or exam policies (Tutors are prohibited from aiding cheating).
    8. Respect Educator’s Intellectual Property: Educators might provide you with study materials or resources. Those are for your personal educational use. Don’t sell or redistribute an Educator’s materials without permission. Also, if an Educator shares proprietary methods or content, keep them confidential.
    9. No Harassment or Inappropriate Requests: Treat Educators professionally. Do not make inappropriate personal advances or requests unrelated to tutoring. Any form of harassment or requests that make an Educator uncomfortable could result in your account being suspended. For example, sexual harassment or personal favours in exchange for tutoring is absolutely forbidden. If an Educator reports such behaviour, we will take it very seriously.

If you violate these guidelines, we may issue a warning or immediately suspend/terminate your account, depending on severity. We want Connectee to be a positive, productive space for learning. If you ever feel that another user is violating these standards, please report it to us.

  5. PARENT/STUDENT RESPONSABILITIES

In addition to the general conduct above, as a Parent or Student using Connectee, you have specific responsibilities to ensure tutoring goes smoothly and safely. By booking tutoring through Connectee, you agree to the following:

    1. Provide Accurate Information About the Student:You will honestly convey the student’s needs, level, and background so the Educator can prepare appropriately. This includes the subject area needing help, the current grade or level of the student, goals, and any other relevant circumstances. The more detail you provide, the better the match and outcome. Misrepresenting a student’s situation (even by omission) could lead to mismatched expectations and frustration. It’s in everyone’s interest to be upfront.
    2. Scheduling and Punctuality:Ensure that the Student is prepared and on time for scheduled sessions. For in-person sessions, that means having the student ready at the agreed time and place. For online sessions, help the student log in a few minutes early to test the connection. If the student is running late or something comes up, communicate with the Educator as soon as possible through the Platform messaging or provided contact info. Good communication is key – Educators are understanding if they are informed, but it’s frustrating for them to be waiting without news. Similarly, you should expect Educators to communicate any delay on their side. Maintain communication: provide feedback to the Educator, respond to their messages about scheduling, and so on.
    3. Authority and Appropriate Supervision (for Minors):If the student is under 18, you confirm that as a Parent/guardian you have the legal right to arrange tutoring for them and agree to these Terms on their behalf. You also commit to ensuring the minor’s safety and proper behaviour during sessions. We recommend that a parent or responsible adult be present or nearby for in-person sessions at home, especially for younger students. You don’t necessarily need to sit in on every lesson (in fact, some older teens may learn better with some independence), but use discretion based on the child’s age and comfort. At minimum, you should periodically check in. For online sessions, make sure the student knows how to use the software and you’re reachable if they need help. It’s good practice to occasionally observe part of an online session or discuss with your child afterward to ensure everything is going well. Connectee is not providing supervision of sessions in real time, so that responsibility lies with you for minors.
    4. Provide a Suitable Environment and Necessary Equipment:You will arrange a proper environment for the tutoring sessions. For in-person tutoring at your home it should be a quiet, reasonably comfortable, and safe space free from distractions. Ensure any potential hazards are removed. A parent or another adult should be present in the home during the session (at least for the first meeting or if the child is young) – this is both for the student’s and educator’s comfort and safety. For online tutoring: ensure the student has the required equipment and software ready. This typically means a computer or tablet with a stable internet connection, a working microphone and speaker (or headset), and possibly a webcam if needed. It’s also important to provide a quiet space for online sessions too, away from TV or distracting noises. By preparing the environment and tools, you help the session be productive.
    5. Timely Payment:You agree to pay for the tutoring services on time as per the agreed rate and schedule. All payments should be made through the Platform’s secure payment system. When you book a lesson, you’re committing to pay the displayed amount (unless it’s cancelled in accordance with the cancellation policy). Make sure your payment method on file is valid and has sufficient funds. If a payment fails, you will need to resolve it promptly by updating the payment method or settling the balance. Non-payment or using fraudulent payment methods is a breach of these Terms and could result in your account being suspended. In practice, Connectee’s system usually won’t let a booking go through without an authorized payment, but in any case, you agree to pay for services received. Tutors have the right to be paid for their time. If there are any billing questions or disputes, you can contact us, but you should not simply cancel payments via your bank without discussion as that could be seen as fraudulent.
    6. Cooperation with the Tutor:Cooperate with the Educator to help the Student get the most out of tutoring. This means providing any information or materials the Educator requests for preparation – for example, the class syllabus, textbooks, past homework or tests that the student struggled with. Share relevant information so the Educator can adapt their approach. Encourage the student to do any assigned practice or follow-up that the Educator suggests between sessions. Essentially, form a partnership with the Educator: they bring expertise and effort, and you reinforce and support it at home. Also, ensure the student behaves appropriately during sessions – they should follow the Educator’s reasonable instructions, attempt the work, and not be disruptive. If there are any issues (student-Educator personality mismatch, or you feel teaching style isn’t working), communicate that respectfully to the Educator and/or to us so adjustments can be made.
    7. Professionalism and Ethics:You are expected to treat the Educators professionally and kindly, and vice versa. This means no harassment, no discrimination, and maintaining boundaries. Do not ask the Educator to do things outside the scope of tutoring and do not engage in any inappropriate personal relationship. Any concerns about an Educator’s conduct should be reported to Connectee. Similarly, refrain from any defamatory or unfair public comments – if you have an issue, discuss it first. Connectee allows you to leave reviews/ratings, but we expect those to be honest and fair reflections of the tutoring service (and not include irrelevant personal remarks or offensive language).
    8. Academic Integrity:Do not ask or pressure Educators to complete assignments, write essays, or take exams on behalf of the student. Educators are there to help the student learn and can guide them through problems, but the student must do their own work for school. Requesting an Educator to do academic work for the student is against these Terms and most Tutors’ codes of ethics. It also does a disservice to the student’s learning. If an Educator reports that a Parent has requested help with cheating, we may issue a warning or suspend the account. Both you and the Tutor should uphold honesty in education.
    9. Appropriate Use Only:Do not use the Platform to engage in any illegal or prohibited activities. For Parents, this mostly means don’t seek services unrelated to legitimate tutoring and don’t exploit the platform. For example, do not attempt to use Connectee to find someone to do something unlawful or to harm others. If you become aware of any such misuse by others, report it.

By fulfilling these obligations, you help create a positive experience for your child (or yourself) and a fair working environment for Educators. Connectee’s mission is to facilitate learning, and we rely on both Educators and Parents to cooperate and communicate effectively.

If you ever have questions about what is expected, or if something isn’t working out, our support team is here to help mediate and guide.

  6. BOOKING LESSONS AND PAYMENTS

This section explains how the process of finding an Educator, booking lessons, and making payments works on Connectee, as well as policies on refunds.

    1. Finding and Contacting Tutors: On Connectee, you can search educator profiles by subject, level, location, availability, and other filters. You can also post a tutoring request/job that Educators might respond to or use any matching service we offer. Once you find an Educator you’re interested in, you can send an initial message through the Platform describing your needs and asking about their availability. All early communication should happen via Connectee’s messaging system for safety and record purposes. (Exchange of personal contact details is discouraged until you have an accepted booking; even then, it’s good to keep communications on-platform as much as possible so we can assist in case of disputes.) Educators are encouraged to reply promptly, typically within 24 hours.
    2. Booking a Session: When you and an Educator are ready to schedule a lesson, you will propose or select a time and date. The booking details include the duration of the session, whether it’s online or where it will take place if in person, and the fee. All Educators have an online calendar on the platform. You must select an available time slot from their calendar to book a session. When the lesson is confirmed your payment method will be charged or authorized for the amount. A booking is confirmed when the Educator accepts the request in the system. Until the Educator accepts, the slot is not guaranteed. Educators have the right to decline requests, though it’s uncommon except if details are not a fit or scheduling change. Once accepted, you and the Educator have a binding agreement to have that session at that time. For recurring schedules (e.g. “every Tuesday at 5pm”), you might book each session individually. Make sure you clarify with the Educator if you expect ongoing sessions: some Educators might accept an initial session as a trial before committing to a regular schedule.
    3. Payment Process: All payments are handled through our secure third-party payment processor. When you enter a credit or debit card (or other accepted payment method) on Connectee, that will be used to pay for lessons. When a booking is confirmed, Connectee will charge or place an authorization hold for the session fee. We may simply authorize the amount at booking and capture (charge) it after the session is completed, or we may charge immediately and hold the funds – specifics depend on our payment workflow, but rest assured, if a lesson doesn’t happen or is cancelled per policy, you will be refunded. The Platform will always show you the price you will be charged before you confirm a booking, and an email receipt is sent for any payment. Connectee holds the payment until the lesson is delivered as a protection. Once the lesson is done and there’s no dispute, the Educator gets paid out. If there’s a dispute, we may hold the payment until it’s resolved.
    4. Lesson Packages and Pricing Structure: Connectee offers the option to buy single lessons of 60 minutes each, or to opt for a package system to provide flexibility and value for families purchasing multiple tutoring sessions. Instead of paying for each lesson one by one, you have the option to purchase a package (such as our “Starter,” “Grow,” or “Thrive” packages). Each package includes a set number of lessons (sessions) that you can schedule over time. The specific number of sessions and terms of use for each package will be provided on the Platform. Package pricing is designed to be straightforward and may offer a per-lesson rate discount compared to single bookings, depending on the package size. Qualified Teachers generally have higher hourly/session rates than Vetted Tutors, reflecting the difference in formal qualifications and experience. No specific prices are listed in these Terms because rates may be updated from time to time and can depend on market conditions and promotions – always refer to the current pricing displayed on the platform.
    5. Payment Issues: If your payment fails, we will notify you. You should update your payment information as soon as possible. We may pause your ability to book new lessons until the issue is resolved. If somehow a session went through and wasn’t paid, you still owe that fee; Connectee and the Educator reserve the right to collect it. Late payment could incur late fees as per our policy or interest as allowed by law. Please be aware that late payment or non-payment is a breach of these Terms.
    6. Receipts and Records: Connectee will provide electronic receipts for all payments you make. These may be emailed to you and/or accessible in your account’s billing section. We maintain records of transactions which you can request if needed for things like reimbursement or personal record-keeping. Both you and Connectee agree to maintain necessary records of payments and communications, as they may be needed for customer support, warranty of service, or legal compliance (for instance, financial regulations or audits).
    7. Package Adjustments and Volume Discounts: If you anticipate needing a large number of tutoring sessions or have multiple children who will use the service extensively, you can discuss with us or look out for any available volume discounts or custom packages. Connectee may offer special arrangements or promotions from time to time. Any such offers will be clearly communicated and are subject to their specific terms. The general principle is that all pricing and fees are transparent with no hidden costs: you will only be charged for services you agreed to (plus any applicable taxes, see below).
    8. Taxes: All fees for lessons or packages are stated exclusive of any applicable taxes, unless expressly noted. If a sales tax or value-added tax (VAT) or similar tax is required by law for the tutoring services in your jurisdiction, such tax will be added at checkout or included in the invoice as a separate line item. Connectee will comply with applicable tax laws. (For example, if VAT applies to tutoring services in your country, we will add the VAT to the charges and remit it to the authorities as required.) If you believe you have a tax-exempt status or special circumstance, you must provide appropriate documentation to Connectee in advance so we can adjust billing (for instance, some educational services might be zero-rated for VAT in certain regions or schools might have exemptions – however, as a private client this is unlikely to apply).
  7. CANCELLATION, RESCHEDULING AND NO-SHOWS

We understand that plans can change. However, when a tutoring session is booked, both parties should do their best to honour that commitment or provide adequate notice of cancellation. This section explains our policies when either a Parent or an Educator cancels a session or fails to show up, as well as any applicable fees or consequences. The goal is to be fair: protect Educators’ time (so they aren’t left uncompensated for late cancellations) and respect Parents’ need for flexibility and quality service.

    1. Cancellation by Parent/Client:

      1. Advance Notice – Free Cancellation: If a Parent (or Student) needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson, they should do so as early as possible via the Platform’s cancel function or by messaging the Educator through the Platform. In general, a cancellation with sufficient advance notice will not incur any charge to the Parent. “Sufficient notice” is typically defined as at least 24 hours before the session start time (unless a different minimum notice period is specified for a particular booking). If the Parent cancels at least 24 hours in advance, any prepaid amount for that session will be refunded in full and the Educator will not be paid for that session (since they have time to adjust their schedule).
      2. Late Cancellation by Parent: Cancelling with short notice (less than 24 hours prior) or failing to show up for the session (no-show) may result in a charge. Because the Educator set aside that time and likely cannot re-book it on short notice, the Parent may be charged a cancellation fee — often a portion or up to the full session fee, depending on how late the cancellation was. For example, Connectee’s default might be that a cancellation within 24 hours could incur up to 50% of the fee, and a very last-minute cancellation (or not showing up at all without notice) could incur up to 100% (the full fee). The exact policy or any sliding scale will be clearly stated on the Platform. If the Parent simply does not attend (no-show) and doesn’t cancel, that is treated as a late cancellation (likely a full charge).
      3. Extenuating Circumstances: We understand life happens. If a true emergency or unforeseen event prevents a Parent/Student from giving notice (for example, sudden illness, accident, family emergency), the Parent should inform the Educator and Connectee as soon as possible and explain the situation. We encourage Educators to be understanding in such cases. Connectee, at its discretion, may waive the cancellation fee for the Parent if we verify a genuine emergency. This is handled case-by-case to prevent abuse. In general, communication is key – a Parent who communicates the issue promptly is more likely to get leniency than someone who repeatedly cancels last-minute without explanation.
      4. Rescheduling: If both the Parent and Educator agree to reschedule the session to a different time instead of cancelling outright, we don’t charge a cancellation fee. The prepaid amount can simply apply to the rescheduled session. We provide tools to reschedule bookings via the Platform. Make sure any reschedule is confirmed by both parties through the Platform so that we have a record. If rescheduling isn’t possible, then it falls back to being a cancellation.
      5. Repeated Cancellations: While cancelling in advance doesn’t carry a fee, if a Parent frequently cancels sessions (even with notice), it can be disruptive. Connectee may monitor cancellation patterns. If we find a Parent repeatedly books and cancels in a way that is unfair to Educators, we reserve the right to take action, such as warning the Parent or suspending the account in extreme cases. We will usually reach out to understand the situation before any suspension. Our aim is to ensure reliability on the Platform for everyone.
    2. Cancellation by Tutor:

      1. Advance Notice: If the Tutor needs to cancel a scheduled session, they should also give as much notice as possible to the Parent via the Platform. We urge Educators to use cancellations sparingly and responsibly, as Parents are counting on them. If they do cancel a session, we expect them to propose an alternative time to make up the session, if feasible.
      2. Late Cancellation / No-Show by Tutor: If an Educator cancels on very short notice (within 24 hours of the session) or fails to show up to the session on time without cancellation, this is treated seriously. The Parent will receive a full refund for that session (you should never pay for a lesson that didn’t happen due to the Educator). Additionally, the Educator will be considered in breach of these Terms. Connectee may impose penalties on the Educator’s account for such incidents. Penalties can include the Educator’s profile being demoted in search results, a warning on their account, temporary suspension of account, or in severe or repeat cases, permanent termination of Educator account. The exact consequence may depend on the circumstances and whether this has happened before.
      3. Finding a Replacement: If an Educator cancels last-minute or doesn’t show up, Connectee will do our best to help the Parent find a substitute Educator. However, we cannot always guarantee a replacement.
    3. No-Show Procedure:If one party is waiting and the other doesn’t arrive at the scheduled time, the waiting party should attempt to contact them via the Platform (send a message or call if a number is provided after booking). There might be a simple misunderstanding or technical issue. If you are the Parent/Student and the Educator doesn’t show, try to contact them and also inform Connectee support. Please report the no-show to Connectee so we can document it and assist with next steps. We may reach out to the absent party to understand what happened. If a dispute arises over whether someone showed up or not, Connectee will review the evidence (messages, login records for online sessions, etc.) to determine what occurred. We aim to be a neutral intermediary and will apply the appropriate refund or penalty according to the policies above.
    4. Refunds:If a Parent is entitled to a refund (due to an Educator’s cancellation or no-show, or a timely cancellation on their part), Connectee will process that refund to the Parent’s original payment method as soon as possible. It may take a few business days for the credit to appear, depending on the bank/card. If the payment was part of a package or subscription, we’ll explain how the refund or credit works in that context (it might be credit to the account for a replacement session, etc.). Our support team will help ensure fairness in any such scenario.
    5. Extenuating Circumstances (Force Majeure):In rare situations like natural disasters, major power/internet outages, or other widespread emergencies, Connectee may suspend the normal cancellation rules. Neither side will be penalized for cancellations due to circumstances genuinely beyond their control. We’ll encourage rescheduling in such cases, or provide refunds where appropriate, without fault to either party.

Both Educators and Parents are expected to act in good faith: communicate promptly and honestly about any need to cancel and be considerate of each other’s time. Frequent cancellations or no-shows can lead to poor reviews and potential account actions, so reliability is key to success on Connectee. If you encounter any issues or disputes around cancellations, you can contact Connectee support for assistance – we’re here to help mediate where needed.

  8. PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION

Your privacy is important. When you use Connectee, you entrust us with personal information about you and your student, and possibly educational records. We take that seriously. This is a summary; our full Privacy Policy provides more detail.

    1. Data We Collect:We collect data needed to provide our services – e.g., account information (name, contact information), student’s first name and age/grade, your communication with Educators through the platform, payment information (handled securely by our payment processor), and session histories. We may also collect reviews/feedback you submit and any files or information you share on the platform. If a session is online through our tools, there might be audio/video or chat data involved (some online classrooms allow recording, but we would ask consent for any recording).
    2. How We Use Data:We use personal data to connect you with Educators, facilitate bookings and payments, and improve our platform. For example, we share relevant information from your profile or request with prospective Tutors (like student’s first name, age, goals) so they can accept the job. We use your email to send booking confirmations or announcements. If you opt in, we might send newsletters or promotions. We might also use data internally to analyse usage patterns or tutor performance to improve service. All processing is done in accordance with GDPR and similar regulations – we either have your consent or another lawful basis (like providing the tutoring service you requested) for each use.
    3. Sharing Data:We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We share data only in limited scenarios: with Educators (as described, to perform the service), with service providers that help us run the business (e.g. the payment processor gets your card information, our email service gets your email to send notifications), and with authorities or regulators if required by law. All such providers are bound by privacy obligations. Educators are independent, but by our Terms, they must keep your data confidential and use it only for your tutoring. We also expect Parents to respect Educators’ privacy (e.g., don’t misuse an educator’s phone number or spam them).
    4. GDPR Compliance:If you are in the EEA, know that we handle data in compliance with GDPR. You have rights to access your data, correct it, or delete it (with some limitations, like we might need to keep certain records for legal reasons). To make a request, just contact us. Typically, you can also delete your account via settings, which removes personal information (though we might retain minimal records like invoices for legal compliance).
    5. Security:We employ security measures (encryption, access controls, etc.) to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure, so we also encourage you to use a unique strong password and be cautious about what you share. For instance, using the platform’s messaging is safer than emailing a tutor directly, because we mask contact info until needed and monitor for spam.
    6. Parental Consent for Minors:Since a minor cannot create an account, we rely on the parent/guardian’s consent to process the child’s data. By using Connectee, you consent to our collecting and using your child’s personal data as described (which mainly includes name, age, tutoring records, etc.). We do not collect more sensitive info than needed. If you provide us health-related info (say, about a child’s learning disability) you are also implicitly consenting to us processing that for the purpose of informing educators – we treat it as highly confidential.
    7. Cookies and Tracking:Our site uses cookies or similar technologies to function and to analyse usage. For example, we may use cookies to keep you logged in or to remember your tutor search preferences. Our Cookie Policy (usually part of Privacy Policy) details this. You can usually manage cookies via browser settings.
    8. Third-Party Links:If our platform links to external resources (perhaps an article or a third-party video chat tool), once you leave our site, our privacy policy doesn’t govern those external sites. Be mindful of their policies.
    9. Privacy Questions:If you have any questions or requests regarding your personal data or GDPR compliance, you can reach out to us at [email protected], as described in our Privacy Policy.

By using Connectee, you acknowledge that we will process your personal information as needed to provide the service. We align with GDPR’s principles, meaning we collect no more data than necessary, we use it lawfully, we keep it secure, and we’re transparent with you about it.

In summary: your data is used to make tutoring possible; it’s shared carefully (mostly with your chosen Educators) and protected by us. Both Connectee and the Educators commit to keeping personal information confidential and handling it responsibly.

  9. DISCLAIMERS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

    1. Services Provided by Independent Educators: Connectee is a platform to find Educators, but we do not directly provide tutoring lessons ourselves. Educators on our site are independent professionals. We strive to verify profiles and maintain quality, but we cannot guarantee that any given Tutor’s statements (credentials, qualifications, etc.) are absolutely accurate or that their teaching will meet your expectations. That said, we do take feedback seriously and remove Educators who are dishonest or consistently underperform. Choosing an Educator is ultimately your decision; use the information available (profiles, reviews) and feel free to ask questions before booking. We encourage students/parents to review and investigate an educator’s self-reported credentials and experience. Connectee does not warrant or guarantee specific outcomes from tutoring (e.g., “your child will get an A”). The success of tutoring depends on many factors (student effort, compatibility, etc.). We do guarantee that the platform will facilitate the agreed service (or refund if it fails), but we don’t guarantee improvement or achievement.
    2. Limitation of Liability:To the extent permitted by law, Connectee (and its owners, employees, affiliates) will not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Platform or tutoring services. For example, we aren’t liable for any lost opportunities, lost data, or emotional distress allegedly arising from tutoring or platform use. If we are found liable for any claim, the amount would likely be limited to the total fees paid by you in the past few months or a similar reasonable amount. However, we do not limit our liability for gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or where law prohibits such limitation.
    3. Platform Availability:We try hard to keep Connectee running smoothly, but we do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times or error-free. Technical issues may occur. We will attempt to fix problems quickly, but we aren’t liable for minor glitches or downtime. In the event of a major outage that affects a scheduled online lesson, we’ll work with you and the Educator to reschedule without penalty.
    4. Third-Party Services:The Platform may integrate third-party tools. While we select reputable providers, we aren’t responsible for their performance. So, if a third-party has an issue, we’ll help troubleshoot but ultimately can’t accept liability for their services.
    5. User Disputes:Any disputes between you and an Educator should be resolved between you two in good faith, with Connectee’s assistance if needed. Connectee is not liable for the actions or omissions of Educators, as they are independent parties. For instance, if an Educator gives wrong advice and a student does poorly on a test, that is something to address with the Educator (though we’d want to know for review purposes). If an Educator were to engage in misconduct, they would be personally liable for that; Connectee would not be expected to compensate for an educator’s misbehaviour, but we would take appropriate action against that Educator and assist authorities if applicable.
    6. Indemnification:You agree to indemnify and hold Connectee harmless from any claims or liabilities arising out of your own breach of these Terms or misuse of the Platform.
    7. Consumer Rights:Nothing in these Terms is meant to override any rights you have under applicable law (for instance, EU consumer rights). We aim to be in line with those. If any part of these Terms is found to conflict with mandatory law, that part will be deemed modified or severed to comply, and the rest remains in effect.
  10. SUSPENSION AND TERMINATION OF ACCOUNTS

We hope to have a long and helpful relationship with you, but we need to mention that Connectee reserves the right to suspend (temporarily deactivate) or terminate (permanently close) your account under certain circumstances:

    1. Serious or Repeated Violations:If you materially breach these Terms – for example, commit fraud, repeatedly no-show for sessions, engage in harassment or otherwise act in a way that is seriously against our policies – we can disable or remove your account. Even without a single egregious act, a pattern of lesser violations can also lead to action.
    2. Legal Compliance:If required by law or requested by authorities (for instance, a court order, or in cases of investigation of illegal activities), we may suspend or terminate your account and/or remove any content you have posted that is illegal or in violation of rights.
    3. Safety Concerns:If we have credible information that your presence on the Platform poses a safety risk to other users, we may immediately suspend your account while we investigate.
    4. Procedure:In most cases, for less severe issues, we will reach out to you with a warning or ask for an explanation before acting. We prefer to resolve problems constructively. However, for severe violations or urgent risks, we may suspend first (to protect users) and then notify you. Termination means you will no longer be able to use the Platform, and any future access may be blocked. If there are outstanding obligations, those would be settled as appropriate. If your account is terminated or suspended and you believe it’s a mistake, you can contact us to appeal the decision. We will review in good faith. Our primary interest is keeping the community safe and trustworthy.
    5. Effect of Termination:If your account is terminated, these Terms (and any other agreements between us) are considered ended, except that certain sections survive (such as confidentiality, data protection obligations, and liability/indemnity clauses). You must cease using the Platform. Any bookings you have at the time may be cancelled. You will still be entitled to refunds due for cancelled booking that happened prior to the issue that caused the termination.
  11. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION

    1. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by Portuguese law, as Connectee is operating in Portugal. By using the Platform, you agree that the laws of Portugal will govern any disagreements.
    2. If a dispute arises between you and Connectee, we encourage you to contact us first to attempt an informal resolution. We are committed to addressing concerns and finding amicable solutions if possible. You can reach our support or legal team through the Platform or via email.
    3. In the event that any legal action is brought by either party, it shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal. Unless otherwise required by applicable consumer laws, you and Connectee consent to the courts of Portugal having exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute.
    4. To the extent permitted by law, you and Connectee agree that each may bring claims against the other only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.
    5. Any portion of these Terms found to be unenforceable by a court will be severed and the remainder will remain in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision right away is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
  12. CHANGES TO TERMS

Connectee Education reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time to reflect updates to our services, technological developments, regulatory changes, or other legitimate business needs. Any changes will be made in a transparent and proportionate manner.

When changes are likely to materially affect your rights or obligations, we will notify users with at least 15 days' advance notice before the changes take effect. This notice may be provided via email, in-app messages, or platform banners. In urgent cases (e.g. to comply with legal or security obligations), changes may take effect with shorter notice or immediately.

Continued access or use of the platform after the changes become effective will constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you may close your account before the effective date without penalty.

Thank you for reading these Terms. By using Connectee’s tutoring services, you agree to follow these guidelines to ensure a positive experience for everyone. We wish you success and rewarding tutoring experiences on the platform.

By using the Connectee Education Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree or if anything is unclear, please cease use of the Platform and contact us for further information.

We are excited to have you as part of the Connectee community and look forward to facilitating successful learning experiences!
